The Banzai Pro is the “go to” 4 batten worldwide wave sail for our top riders Marcilio Browne (PWA wave world champion) and Loick Lesauvage. The Banzai Pro is the answer and solution to all demands of a light weight, direct power delivery, wide range sail with heaps of flex feel and control. The adaptability of the Banzai Pro is unparalleled.
Unique to the Banzai Pro design concept is the back-hand throttle control. The sail pulls forward from “low RPMs” and is very balanced, but there is always a little “extra” available off the back hand for when you really need to juice up into a jump or maneuver. This tactile back-hand feel gives you a direct connection to how the sail is loading and releasing and allows you stay connected throughout your maneuvers. Marcilio Browne has driven this concept, insisting that the sails maintain the connected feel, providing him supreme confidence and control through technical and radical maneuvers. Corners have overlapped panels which reduces the amount of patching. At the same time, these overlapped areas extend into the body of the sail so it transitions the load much better, will be less stretched over time. It’s a more stable way of building sails.
Rather than a single curved luff panel, the Blade uses separate panels that radiate out of the head and tack corners. This perfectly aligns the sail material with the direction of load. The Evoq is designed for the experienced wave sailor, that has high demands on radical performance but can benefit from a more relaxed ride. The Evoq is designed for plug-and-play performance, whether you’re into jumping, waveriding, or going out in massive surf, this the ultimate sail.
The Evoq features a split batten lineup for ultimate handling throughout all sizes. The 3.7 to 4.7 feature a 4 batten panel layout, and from 5.0 to 6.2 a 5 batten panel layout. The main benefit is that we can design the sail with the exact needed distance between the battens needed to achieve the right feeling for draft and stability. The sail sizes are progressively designed in both construction and sail profile. The smaller sizes have less sail profile, and the larger ones offer more low-end grunt for getting going in marginal conditions. To give you the confidence to go for it, the main window on the 3.7 to 5.3 features a wide-spaced X-Ply, and the larger sizes feature monofilm.
