As the more affordable version of the PLATINUM, it is a high-end mast for all ranges of use which is very light and yet astonishingly durable. 100% PRE-PREG CARBON // PRO WAVE
The SX10 masts present the best performance in the range with the fastest possible reflex response possible, giving the sails turbo-charged acceleration, an extremely wide wind range, and lightweight handling.
SX10 stands for 100% carbon content. They are designed from a top grade and high tensile strength pre-preg carbon. This technology ensures optimum control of resin content and resin distribution throughout the laminate. The carbon layup features and inner layers of 45 degree carbon weave to control torsion and quick reflex response. The outer layer carbon has a 90 degree orientation for highest possible strength.
The SX10 mast feature a progressive constant curve which means that the bend curve is constant but the base is stiffer than the top. This provides optimal sail dynamics allowing the bottom of the sail to generate power, and the top of the rig to quickly release power.
The mast is the spine of the rig, so to get the best possible performance out of your rig, choose SX10.

The highest performing, most reliable pro race mast. The Apex Team is our lightest SDM mast with a vigorous durability testing scheme behind it. The Apex Team has been through an intense development cycle and withstands the forces required by modern performance race sails. New technical features include carbon replacement where there previously were glass layers. A larger layer overlap and the addition of 90° carbon bring two significant upgrades; increased strength, and unaltered weight. Severne Windsurfing RDM40 White Carbon Mast 400cm only
The RDM40 range of masts gives users who would normally not have the budget for the mast and sail to get both. This mast is heavier than the higher carbon content but has the critical bend curve Severne require to work correctly.
The relationship between the mast and sail needs to be matched with finite detail. The correct curve and stiffness ensures that the response, shaping and twist are consistent with not only the original design objectives but also with the controlled conditions we test each and every one of our sails.
At Severne, our analysis of mast performance extends far beyond the two dimensional IMCS system with only 3 reference points. All Severne masts are tested at 7 designated offsets and computer faired to precisely mirror the luff curve of the sail.
Every mast in every range is produced using pre-preg carbon construction. This way the resin consistency and content can be managed down to sub millilitre perfection and the fibre content and bias controlled, which optimises strength and reduces weight.
