The SX8 presents high carbon content for quick reflex respons that will lighten the feeling of any rig. Using the same high performance construction and bend curve as the SX10, the SX8 offers high-end performance with added durability therefore it is the best compromise between performance and durability.
SX8 stands for 80% carbon content. They are designed from a high grade pre-preg carbon. This technology ensures optimum control of resin content and resin distribution throughout the laminate. The carbon layup features a inner layers of 45 degree carbon weave to control torsion and quick reflex response. The outer layer carbon has a 90 degree orientation for highest possible strength.
The SX8 mast feature a progressive constant curve which means that the bend curve is constant but the base is stiffer than the top. This provides optimal sail dynamics allowing the bottom of the sail to generate power, and the top of the rig to quickly release power. The bend curve of the SDM and RDM’s are compatible with one another, but the RDM’s are more durable, therefor more suitable for punishing wave conditions. SDM’s provide a faster reflex response, better stability and faster acceleration, therefor more suitable for flatwater sailing.
The Simmer wavesails are developed on the SX8 RDM and this is the mast that we recommend for this reason. The SX8 SDM is the recommended mast for VMax and 2XC and SC Slalom.

The SX10 masts present the best performance in the range with the fastest possible reflex response possible, giving the sails turbo-charged acceleration, an extremely wide wind range, and lightweight handling.
SX10 stands for 100% carbon content. They are designed from a top grade and high tensile strength pre-preg carbon. This technology ensures optimum control of resin content and resin distribution throughout the laminate. The carbon layup features and inner layers of 45 degree carbon weave to control torsion and quick reflex response. The outer layer carbon has a 90 degree orientation for highest possible strength.

The 2022 Icon performance is defined by its ease of handling utilizing a powerful and direct riding feel. The five batten panel layout gives you complete command in all situations and the confidence to push hard. With five battens to keep the sail draft in forward locked position, the sail works equally well for high-wind jumping environments to powering driving turns in challenging onshore conditions and all wind angles in between. Adaptability is Icon’s signature trait and a big reason it is been so popular for well over a decade. The Icon also provides the ultimate level of stability in any wind range. This superb stability also means that the Icon is less physically demanding for the rider to use compared to the Blacktip, providing the rider with an absolute focus on maneuvers and going really fast with full control at all times.
Technical solutions in 2022 include a refined luff curve design, with a lower aspect ratio compared to 2021. The batten above the boom has been moved up to create more drive, as seen on the Blacktip. Combined, these refinements offer the control of a 5 batten sail, but with the drive of a 4 batten wave sail.
